Developed as part of the UAE’s first CubeSat development program, Nayif 1 was built at AUS, EIAST’s facilities, and in collaboration with Delft, Netherlands. The CubeSat’s 1U communication mission is designed to engage Emirati students in all phases, from design to operation, and will be operated from a ground station at AUS.
The CubeSat, a standardised, compact nanosatellite with a 1U design (10x10x10 cm and weighing under 1 kg), provides an accessible platform for students. It integrates the expertise of students from various engineering disciplines, with key support from ISISPACE, a leader in nano satellite systems, and the UAE’s industry, government, and academic sectors. The mission aims to invest in and develop the capabilities of Emirati students in space technologies, enabling them to take part in all aspects of CubeSat development.
